Now, that temperatures are topping 90 degrees, people are wondering how long it will take to build their swimming pool project. While no two swimming pool projects are exactly alike, I can give a generic answer. A swimming pool project, from time of excavation, will take approximately 5 weeks. Now, this is for an average size pool (14′ X 30′), with regular concrete decking, stone or brick coping and no elaborate water features. If you add in stone decking, you usually add an additional week. If you are adding in waterfalls, you can expect a few additional weeks. If you have a raised spa with stacked stone, you can anticipate that taking at least a few extra days for the stone work. These are just general estimates. The size and scope of work varies with each project. Also, keep in mind, that the permitting process can take anywhere from one week to four weeks depending upon which municipality your pool project is located in. This is why we always recommend that you start the design process in February. That way, when the heat hits in Mid April or early May, you can be swimming. This doesn’t mean that if you wanted to get a pool this summer, its too late. It simply means, you may have to wait longer for your contractor of choice. Plus, considering it is warm enough outside to swim well into October in the Atlanta area, 6 weeks isn’t long to wait for your dream pool.
As always, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to leave a comment.
