When considering whether or not you want to add water features to your custom designed swimming pool, here are some things you should know. Water features can turn an ordinary, everyday pool into an extraordinary work of art. Water features vary from a cascading waterfall to simple sprays of water shooting out from the pools coping. Below are what we have found to be the top reasons to add water features to your pool design.
1. Sound: The tranqulity and peace that comes from cascading water is unmatched. I personally enjoy sitting on our pool deck listening to the sound of the spillway flowing from the spa to the pool. It is such a relaxing feeling.
2. Fun: When the neighborhood kids come to play in the pool, they ALWAYS ask me turn the spillway on. They love to play in the water that cascades down. Usually, they will get behind the cascading water and make silly faces. They truly enjoy the added benefits of a water feature. Other types of water features kids enjoy are bubblers, deck jets arcing into a pool, and of course water slides.
3. Looks: Water features can truly add beauty to a swimming pool. Whether you add a shear decent, A rain descent, or a dramatic waterfall off the top of a grotto, the possibilities are endless. They add to the overall aesthetic appeal of the landscape.
Now, of course, swimming pools that don’t have water features, are still a fabulous addition to any landscape. I just personally enjoy the sounds that are produced by water features.
