Atlanta Pool Company Presents Indoor Pools and their Unique Challenge

By wpPool | Blog | 0 comment | 25 October, 2011 | 0

MP900399872-resized-600Indoor pools can be the ultimate luxury item. Often times the price of a swimming pool can nearly double when you decide to build it indoors. An indoor pool provides year round exercise and entertainment for the whole family, but they also present their own unique challenges. An indoor swimming pool must be properly vented and use a high efficiency dehumidifcation system. When water is heated to a temperature that allows for swimming, large amounts of moisture are released into the air. A dehumidification system helps to keep mold and mildew at bay and prevent foggy windows and odors. When looking for a dehumidification system for your indoor pool, here are some things to consider:

Proper Size: When choosing which system is best for your indoor swimming pool, you have to consider the size of the room (square footage and ceiling height), the size of the pool, what temperature you will maintain the pool at.

Air movement: Surface evaporation of the heated water causes excessive moisture in the air. In order to combat that moisture you need to move as much air as possible through the dehumidifier. The more air that passes through the system, the more efficient the system will be, and the less moisture that will be present in the air.

Adjustment Options: Choose a dehumdifier with humidity adjustment options. You may have to experiment with the settings a bit until you find the one that works best for your home.

Heat transfer technology: When choosing your dehumidification system, consider one that has heat transfer technology. This allows the dehumidifier to process and recover latent heat from the condensed moisture and use it to heat the pool.

Indoor pools have their own unique set of challenges for pool builders. Maintaining the proper humidity in your pool enclosure can prevent costly damage to the structure and the interior. When considering an indoor pool, research the pool builder you choose and make sure they have experience with building indoor pools.
