For those of you who may not know, pool coping is the material that goes around the edge of the pool. It tops where the pool shell meets the pool decking. It can be anywhere from simple to dramatic depending on which option you choose and which option best fits your overall pool design. I’m going to go over some of the different options when it comes to choosing coping for your swimming pool. Because these options are the most common,I will cover Natural Stone, Brick, and Cantilever Concrete.
Natural Stone Coping such as Limestone, travertine, and flagstone, and blue-stone are increasing in popularity because of their natural aesthetic appeal. They add beauty to any outdoor escape. They also tend to be cooler, temperature wise, than other coping options. They range in price from $35 a linear foot installed, all the way up to $75 for curved limestone.

Brick coping, popular for its strength, comes in many different colors ranging from pale grey or beige to dark brown. The darker colors tend to be hot to the touch because they absorb the heat from the sun. They range in price from $23-33 a linear foot installed.

Cantilever Concrete coping is poured concrete that is formed and poured into place. It’s also the least expensive option when it comes to pool coping, ranging from $11-$15 a linear foot.
